Loox and Formgong side by side
Each Loox cell comes from Loox's own pages or its Shopify App Store listing, read on 20 October 2026. Each Formgong cell comes from our own code, last checked on 21 October 2026. The table has no prices; plans change, and the linked pages carry them.

What merchants say in 1 and 2 star reviews
Loox's listing showed 9,910 reviews on 20 October 2026, and 193 of them give 1 or 2 stars. We read the 20 newest. Eight of the 20 are about price or billing, mostly the order-based charge on the paid plan. Seven have no readable text, and five are about other things. Four of them:
“nowhere does it explain what counts as an "order"”
Loox replied that it had checked the account and contacted the merchant privately.
“AUTO PUBLISHED REVIEWS, WITH NO OPTION TO BLOCK SPAM.”
Loox's reply explains the rule: reviews wait in a 14-day moderation window, and the ones the merchant has not rejected are then published. Its help page calls this required. You can still unpublish spam within those 14 days.
“Loox wasent able to fix a bug in customer video uploads.”
Loox answered that one of the cases was a customer uploading a video and photos together, which Loox does not support.
“Cannot match a basic font like Arial to my theme and no access to css”
These are single merchants' accounts, and we could not check them. The full reviews, and Loox's replies, are on the linked pages.
When to stay with Loox
- You want reviews collected on autopilot. Loox's free plan sends review request emails and reminders after orders, and can offer a discount for a photo review. Formgong sends order emails only for WooCommerce so far, not on Shopify, and offers no discounts.
- You sell through Google, Meta or TikTok Shop. Loox's paid plan syndicates reviews to them, and every plan syncs with the Shop app. Formgong does none of that.
- You use referrals, review stories or social posts. Loox turns reviews into social posts and runs referrals. Formgong only shows reviews.
- You want help at any hour. The free plan lists 24/7 chat and email support. Formgong answers by email.
- You value a track record. Loox holds 4.9 stars from 9,910 reviews and says more than 130,000 brands use it. Formgong Reviews is new.
If your store lives on Shopify and visual reviews drive your sales, Loox is built for exactly that.
Where Formgong fits, and what it does not do
- Video reviews without a paid plan. Each review on Formgong's free plan can carry up to 5 photos and a 50 MB video.
- A bill that does not grow with orders. Formgong does not count orders or reviews. The paid plan adds AI summaries, AI moderation and translation; the free plan has no review limit.
- No publishing clock. A review you have not approved stays unpublished. You can choose to publish everything, or bare star ratings, at once. Hiding any review, good or bad, asks for a reason from a fixed list. On the free plan, reviews you never decide on are deleted after 30 days.
- Your site is not on Shopify. Loox describes itself as Shopify exclusive. Formgong runs anywhere you can paste HTML.
The widget filters by star rating and sorts by date or rating, and the same script shows stars under products in your lists and a small rating badge on any page. With our WordPress plugin, a WooCommerce store emails each buyer after a completed order: one form for every product in the order, reviews sent from it marked Verified buyer, and one reminder for the products still without a review. A refund or cancellation stops a waiting email.
What Formgong does not do: no review emails after Shopify orders and no verified buyer label there (WooCommerce has both), no photo-review discounts, no referrals, and no Google, Meta or TikTok syndication.
Until 31 December 2026: an account that connects reviews gets every paid reviews feature free for 6 months: the AI summary, mood tags, translation, AI moderation and no Formgong link under the widget. Your reviews and settings stay when the 6 months end.
How to move your reviews from Loox
Export from Loox
- In Loox, open Manage Reviews and click the three dots (…).
- Under the Product reviews tab, click Export to .csv. Store reviews have their own tab and their own export.
- Choose all reviews, or only the ones that match your filters.
Loox's reply to one merchant who could not find it, in June 2026, said the same: export is one click on the Manage Reviews page.
Then import it into Formgong
- Create a free Formgong account, open Reviews and add your site.
- On the site's page, click Import reviews. Choose the CSV, pick the language the reviews are written in, and click Import. Formgong recognises a Loox file by its nickname and productId columns. Importing is on the free plan, with no limit on the number of reviews.
- Read the result. It counts the reviews that came in, the ones already imported before, and the rows skipped for a missing rating or an unreadable date. If the file marks a review as spam, rejected or hidden, it arrives hidden.
- Nothing is public yet. Click Publish N imported reviews, approve them one by one, or click Undo this import. On the free plan, reviews you have not published are deleted after 30 days, so decide within a month.
- Put the widget on your pages (code below). Then switch the old app off, so it stops sending review emails and the page does not show two widgets.
What comes across: the star rating, the title and text, the reviewer's name, the original date, the product and your public reply. What does not: reviewer emails, photos and videos, verified badges, helpful votes and custom questions. One file can hold 5,000 rows and 5 MB, so split a bigger export. You can run 20 imports a day, and importing the same file twice adds nothing.
We built the Loox reader from the columns of a real Loox export file, not from a Loox document. If your import reports skipped rows, send us the header row and one line of the file and we will fix it.
Our Shopify app has been in Shopify's App Store review since 14 October 2026 and was still not listed on 20 October. Until it is, the widget goes into a Custom Liquid section, where {{ product.handle }} matches the product handle in your file. Off Shopify, paste the same two lines and set data-product yourself. You can export your Formgong reviews to CSV at any time, too.
<!-- Shopify: a Custom Liquid section on the product template -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="{{ product.handle }}"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>
<!-- Any other site: set data-product to the product handle from your export -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="blue-teapot"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>One account for the rest of the site
The same free account covers the rest of a small shop's site. A contact form that emails you every message, an AI help chat that answers visitors from your own pages, and free website templates with the form already connected. Reviews, forms and the chat live in one dashboard, so there is one login and one support address.
Tell us what we got wrong
If you moved from Loox to Formgong, or tried and went back, we want to know what broke. If a fact on this page is out of date, or the import skipped rows it should have kept, write to support@formgong.com. We read every message and correct this page when we are wrong.
Questions
Is there a free Loox alternative with video reviews?
Yes. Formgong Reviews takes photo and video reviews on its free plan: up to 5 photos and one video per review, with no limit on reviews. Loox lists video reviews on its paid plans.
Does Loox publish reviews automatically?
Its help page says reviews that are not rejected for a valid reason must be published within 14 days. 1 and 2 star reviews wait as pending and go live 14 days after submission unless you unpublish them.
Does Loox work outside Shopify?
No. Loox describes itself as Shopify exclusive. Formgong Reviews works on any site where you can paste a div and a script tag.
Can I import Loox reviews into Formgong?
Yes, on the free plan. Export the CSV from Manage Reviews in Loox and upload it under Reviews, Import reviews. Photos and videos do not come across; ratings, text, names, dates and products do.
Does Formgong send review requests after an order?
On WooCommerce, yes: with the Formgong WordPress plugin each completed order gets one email and one reminder. On Shopify, not yet: you send customers your review link yourself, or ask once after a form submission. Loox sends review emails and reminders on its free plan.
