Elfsight and Formgong side by side
Each Elfsight cell comes from Elfsight's own pages, read on 31 October 2026. The table has no prices; plans change, and the linked pages carry them.
| Elfsight | Formgong | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Shows reviews from 30+ platforms such as Google, Facebook and Yelp; visitors can also write one in the widget | Collects reviews on a page we host and shows them on your site with one script |
| Free plan | 1 widget and 200 views a month; over the limit the widget is switched off until the month resets | Yes: unlimited review sites and reviews, photo and video reviews, import and export |
| Branding on the free plan | Elfsight branding | A small Formgong link under the widget; none on Pro |
| Showing only good reviews | Yes: a filter can hide lower-rated reviews | You approve each review, or choose a publishing mode. There is no switch to show only 4 and 5 stars |
| Photo and video reviews | Not stated on the pages we read | Yes, on Free: up to 5 photos and 1 video (50 MB) per review |
| Review emails after an order | Not stated on the pages we read | On every plan: WooCommerce through our plugin, any other shop through our API, Zapier, Make or n8n, or a CSV of past orders. Shopify and Wix orders not directly yet. Free sends up to 20 a day per site |
| Google markup | Adds aggregate rating markup | Our WordPress plugin adds the rating to WooCommerce's product markup. The plain widget adds none, because Google ignores a business's reviews of itself |
| Translation | AI translation from the Pro plan | Automatic translation on Pro |
When to stay with Elfsight
- Your reviews are already on Google, Facebook or Yelp. Elfsight connects to those sources and refreshes by itself; its FAQ says new reviews usually show within about 72 hours. Formgong does not pull reviews from those sites; it imports export files.
- You want many kinds of widget from one account. Elfsight also sells chat, forms, galleries and calendars.
- You run a local business with reviews spread over several platforms. One Elfsight feed can combine several locations and profiles.
Keeping your Google profile and showing it through a widget is a reasonable setup for a shop with one counter and many Google reviews.
Where Formgong fits, and what it does not do
- Reviews written on your site, for your products. Customers rate on a page we host, from the widget's "Write a review" link, or from a review email after an order. Each product page shows its own reviews.
- A free plan with no review count. Formgong does not count reviews or review sites, and photo and video reviews are on Free.
- The whole picture, not the best part. Elfsight's FAQ says its filter can show only positive feedback. Formgong has no such switch on purpose: hiding bad reviews breaks the US FTC rule on fake reviews.
- Markup Google accepts. Google's review snippet guidelines say a business's own pages are not eligible for stars when they show reviews of that business through an embedded third-party widget, and that markup should not aggregate ratings from other websites. Formgong's plain widget adds no markup for that reason; our WordPress plugin adds the rating to WooCommerce's product data.
What Formgong does not do: it does not show your Google, Facebook or Yelp reviews, and it has no chat, gallery or calendar widgets. It does have contact forms and an AI help chat in the same account.
Until 31 December 2026: an account that connects reviews gets every paid reviews feature free for 6 months: the AI summary, mood tags, translation and AI moderation. Your reviews and settings stay when the 6 months end.
How to move your reviews from Elfsight
Nothing to export from Elfsight
Elfsight shows reviews that stay on Google, Facebook and the other platforms, so there is no file to move. Keep those profiles and the widget if you like them. Start collecting reviews on your own pages with Formgong's review link and widget. If you also have reviews from a review app, import its export file.
Then import it into Formgong
- Create a free Formgong account, open Reviews and add your site.
- Open the site's Import / Export tab, choose the file, pick the language of the reviews and press Import. A CSV of your own needs a rating from 1 to 5 and a date; text, name, product, title and reply are optional. Download the CSV template gives the column order.
- Everything arrives pending, with its original date. Press Publish … imported reviews, or Undo this import.
- Put the widget on your pages (code below). Reviews show on the page whose
data-productmatches their product.
One file can hold 5 MB and 5,000 rows, and you can run 20 imports a day, on every plan. Photos, videos and reviewer emails do not come across.
<!-- Shopify: a Custom Liquid section on the product template -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="{{ product.handle }}"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>
<!-- Any other site: set data-product to the product handle from your export -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="blue-teapot"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>What Formgong Reviews includes for free
- Unlimited review sites and reviews. Text, photo, video and voice reviews on Free.
- A widget with no view limit. The review widget, carousel, badge and stars in product lists load as often as your pages do.
- Review emails in your store's name. Sent after each order with your logo and colours, replies to you, no email service to set up; buyers can rate inside Gmail without leaving the email, and get one reminder (how it works).
- Bring your old reviews. Import from Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox, Shopify Product Reviews, WooCommerce, Etsy or a CSV.
- You decide what shows. Approve each review or choose a publishing mode, reply in public or in private, and let shoppers ask the author a question.
- Google. A Merchant Center review feed, and product rating markup through the WordPress plugin.
- Reviews from your form. People who filled in your contact form can get a review request automatically.
- One account for the rest. Contact forms with Telegram and Google Sheets, an AI help chat, and free website templates.

Questions
What happens when Elfsight's free views run out?
Elfsight's pricing page says that exceeding the monthly view limit temporarily deactivates the widget. On the free plan the limit is 200 views a month for 1 widget.
Can Elfsight show only 5-star reviews?
Its FAQ says yes: you can filter by star rating and hide lower-rated reviews. Formgong has no such option, because hiding bad reviews breaks the US FTC rule on fake reviews.
Does Formgong pull my Google reviews like Elfsight?
No. Formgong collects reviews on your own site and imports export files from review apps such as Judge.me, Yotpo or Loox, or your own CSV. For Google reviews on your page, Elfsight is the closer fit.
Is there a free Elfsight alternative for product reviews?
Yes. Formgong Reviews is free with no limit on reviews or sites, takes photo and video reviews, and lets you approve each review before it shows.
