Make your review link
A Place ID works best. A full Google Maps address works too, as long as it is the long one from the address bar on a computer. The text you paste goes to Formgong only to read the ID and draw the QR code. It is not saved.
Paste a Place ID or a Google Maps link first.
Reading it…
Done. Open the link once to check it shows your business, then copy it.
That is longer than any Maps link. Paste the Place ID on its own.
This is a short share link. It only becomes the real Maps address in a browser. Open it, let Google Maps load, copy the full address from the address bar and paste that here. Or get the Place ID with the finder further down.
No Place ID or business number found in that. A Place ID is one word of letters, digits, dashes and underscores, and a business one usually starts with ChIJ. The finder further down gives you yours.

This link has your business number (CID), not a Place ID. It opens your profile on Google Maps, where people tap Write a review. For a link that opens the review box straight away, get the Place ID with the finder below.
This is already a review link from your Business Profile. It works as it is. The QR code below opens it.
This ID does not start with ChIJ, which most business Place IDs do. It may point to an address or an area. Open the link and check that your business name is on the review box.
Find your Place ID in two steps
- Open Google's Place ID Finder. Type your business name into the search box on the map and pick it from the list.
- A box opens over the pin with the name, the address and a line that says “Place ID”. Copy the text after it and paste it above. A business Place ID usually starts with
ChIJ, for exampleChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4.
If your business is not in the list, the profile is probably not live on Google Maps yet. A new or unverified profile often has no Place ID that customers can review. Finish verification in Google Business Profile first.
A Place ID can change when Google merges or moves a listing. Google says IDs may vary in length and have no maximum. If an old link stops opening your business, look the ID up again.
Pasting a Google Maps link instead
- The long address from a computer works. Open your business in Google Maps and copy the whole address bar. It contains
/maps/place/and a longdata=part. The tool finds your business number (the CID) in it. - A link with
placeid=,place_id=or?cid=works. The tool takes the ID out of it. - Short share links do not.
maps.app.goo.glandgoo.gl/mapslinks only turn into the real address after Google redirects your browser. Open the short link, wait for Maps to load, then copy the address bar.
A business number gives a different link from a Place ID. It opens your profile on Google Maps, one tap away from “Write a review”. Only a Place ID opens the review box straight away. When the tool only finds a CID, it says so under the link.
Google's own link from your Business Profile
If you can sign in to the profile, Google can give you a link too. On a computer, open your Business Profile, choose Read reviews, then Get more reviews, and press Copy. Google's help page says the QR code there can only be made in a computer browser.
Paste that link here if you want the QR code as an SVG file, which stays sharp on a printed sign. The link itself does not change.
This tool helps when you do not have the profile login at hand, for example when you set up review requests for a client. One more honest note: Google does not describe the writereview address in its help pages. It is the address the review box has used for years, and most review tools build the same link. If it ever stops working, the link from your Business Profile is the fallback.
Where to use the link
- The email after the job. One line and the link. People rarely search for your profile on their own.
- A printed QR code at the counter, on the invoice or on a card in the delivery box.
- The thank-you page after someone books or buys.
- A chat reply when a customer thanks you in WhatsApp or Telegram.
Two rules from Google worth knowing. Do not offer a discount, a gift or anything else in exchange for a review: Google treats that as fake engagement. And the customer needs a Google account to post, so do not be surprised when some people who promise a review never leave one.
Ask everyone, not only the customers you expect to be happy. A profile with a few honest three-star reviews reads as more believable than a wall of fives.
Ask for reviews on your own site as well
Google reviews stay on Google. If you want reviews on your own pages too, Formgong has Ask for a review. Open a submission in your Formgong inbox, press the button, and the customer gets one email with a link to your review page. There are no reminders. Nothing shows on your site until you approve it, and the review widget puts the approved ones on any page with one line of code.
That email links to your Formgong review page, not to Google. If Google is where you want the review, send the link from this page in your own message.
Questions
What is a Google review link?
A link that opens Google's “Write a review” box for one business. It is search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= followed by that business's Place ID. Customers tap it, pick the stars and write.
Where do I find my Google Place ID?
In Google's free Place ID Finder. Type the business name on the map, pick it from the list, and copy the text after “Place ID” in the box over the pin. It usually starts with ChIJ.
Why does my maps.app.goo.gl link not work here?
It is a short link that only becomes the real Maps address after Google redirects your browser. Open it, let Maps load, then copy the full address from the address bar. Or use the Place ID Finder.
Is this the same as the link in my Business Profile?
It opens the same review box. Google's own link comes from Read reviews, then Get more reviews in your profile, and it needs you to sign in. This page needs only the Place ID.
Is what I paste stored?
No. It is sent to Formgong to read the ID and draw the QR code, and the answer goes straight back to your browser. Nothing is saved.
