Arcwell: a free Shopify theme for interior designers

Template page:Arcwell, every version

Arcwell started as an HTML site for interior designers. This is the same design as a Shopify theme. The home page keeps every section and the contact form, and the product, collection, cart and blog pages are simple pages in matching fonts and colours.

Short answer: Download arcwell-shopify.zip, upload it under Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file, then paste a free Formgong access key in Theme settings → Formgong form. It works on any Shopify plan with an online store.

Download arcwell-shopify.zip Live demo

  1. Download arcwell-shopify.zip. Don't unzip it.
  2. In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file, and choose the file. It lands in your theme library; your live theme stays as it is.
  3. Create a free form at formgong.com/new and copy its access key. It starts with fk_ and is safe to put in a web page. Click Customize on Arcwell, open Theme settings → Formgong form and paste the key. Until then the theme's Formgong forms stay hidden.
  4. Replace the demo photos and texts in each home page section, then publish.
  5. Send a test message from your site and check that it reaches your Formgong inbox.

What you can change in the theme editor

Click Customize and the home page opens as 12 sections: Top, About, Band, Services, Wrap, Sec, Quote, Estimate, Projects, Faq, Sec 2 and Contact. Each text and image in them is a separate setting, 175 in all, so nothing on the page needs code to change. Projects has the most, 42.

The settings are flat, though. A section shows a fixed number of cards, and you can rewrite each card but can't add one, delete one or change their order in the editor. Theme settings has three groups: Formgong form takes the access key, Site the name, title and description, and Colors the palette.

What is in the zip

The zip has 68 files and weighs 1.7 MB, in the standard Shopify layout. The design lives in sections/ (24 files: the home page sections above, the header and footer, and one for each store page) and in assets/, which also carries the 12 demo images and the Montserrat font files, so the store makes no calls to Google Fonts.

templates/ has one file per page type, 11 in all, from the home page to the password page. layout/theme.liquid wraps every page, and config/settings_schema.json defines the Theme settings groups.

Limits on Shopify

The design stops at the home page. Product, collection and cart pages work and share the fonts and colours, but they are plain, so a shop with a real catalogue is better off with Stilla or Scamper.

The demo photos were generated for the template and ship inside the theme, so replace them before you publish. Arcwell runs on any Shopify plan that includes the online store.

Questions

Is Arcwell free for Shopify?

Yes. Download it and use it on your own store or a client's store. It is MIT-licensed.

Will my products show on the home page?

No. The home page is the Arcwell design, with texts and photos you edit in the theme editor. Your products appear on the product, collection and search pages.
