Website templates

Free portfolio website templates

Three one-page portfolio templates from our free library, each one index.html file plus an img folder. Lattice is for a developer or a designer, Quell for work that reads best in order, Halftone for a bold, graphic studio. The people and projects in the demos are made up.

Short answer: All three are free under the MIT license. Download the zip, swap in your projects and images, replace fk_your_access_key with your Formgong access key, and upload the folder to GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages or Netlify, which host sites like these for free. Messages from the form reach your email straight away.

Lattice: a developer or designer portfolio

Lattice home page
Lattice: the first screen of the demo.

A pinned project switcher with six projects, each with a desktop and a phone screenshot, then a testimonials section and a contact form. Every border sits on a grid line, and frames draw themselves as you scroll. It suits anyone whose work lives on screens: web and app developers, UI designers, small studios. More on the Lattice page.

Quell: a portfolio told as a timeline

Quell home page
Quell: the first screen of the demo.

Your name in two giant words that slide apart as you scroll, then a line down the middle of the page with eight projects on either side, each with its year. It was made for an architect or a structural engineer, but it works just as well for a photographer, an illustrator or anyone whose work makes more sense in order. The form asks for project type, place and timing. More on the Quell page.

Halftone: a bold studio portfolio

Halftone home page
Halftone: the first screen of the demo.

An orange loader, a photo hero behind a halftone dot screen, and four full-screen projects that slide over each other. Pick it if you have a few strong projects and a clear graphic style. The contact card is short (name, email, message), and two CSS variables at the top of the file change the orange. More on the Halftone page.

What a portfolio needs, whichever template you pick

  • Fewer, better projects. Four to six projects, each with a sentence on what you did and what changed, beat twenty thumbnails. All three templates are built for a short list.
  • Your part in each project. People hire a person, so say which part was yours when you worked in a team.
  • Your own images. The demo projects are fictional. Replace every image before you publish, and save them as WebP so the page stays quick on a phone.
  • Movement that can be switched off. All three templates stop their animations for visitors who turn on reduced motion in their system settings. Keep that if you add effects of your own.

What Formgong adds to the template

  • A form that says thanks only when it should. Every form here posts to Formgong and shows success only when the server answers success: true; anything else shows an error. In our test of 105 forms on AI-built sites, 27 showed "Message sent" and sent nothing (the study).
  • Messages where you will see them. Each submission is emailed to you as it arrives, on the free plan too, with Telegram alerts if you want them. From there it can go on to Slack, Google Sheets, Notion, Zapier or n8n.
  • An AI help chat. One script tag adds a chat that answers visitors from your own pages and passes the conversation to you when it can't (how it works).
  • Reviews. Collect star reviews through Formgong, approve them, and show them on the site with the review widget.
  • MIT license. The HTML templates are MIT-licensed: use them for yourself or for clients, change anything, drop the footer credit.

How to download and publish it

  1. Create a free form at formgong.com/new and copy its access key. It starts with fk_ and is public by design.
  2. Open index.html and replace fk_your_access_key with your key.
  3. Upload the folder to a static host such as Cloudflare Pages, Netlify or GitHub Pages.
  4. Send one test message from the live site and check that it arrives.

Tell us what's missing

We add templates one kind of business at a time. If yours isn't covered, or one of these gets something wrong about how your work is bought, write to support@formgong.com and tell us what you'd change. We pick the next templates from what people ask for there.

Questions

Can I host my portfolio for free?

Yes. GitHub Pages, Cloudflare Pages and Netlify host static sites like these for free. On the last two you can drag the folder into the browser.

Can I use these templates for a client?

Yes. Under the MIT license you can build client sites with them and change whatever you like. Keep the license file in the project.

Do I have to keep the Formgong credit in the footer?

No. The MIT license asks you to keep the license file, nothing more. The credit line is optional.

Can I put a resume or CV on the page?

Yes. Add a link to a PDF in the img folder, or a short section of plain HTML. None of the templates has a ready-made CV section.
