CusRev and Formgong side by side
Each CusRev cell comes from CusRev's own pages or its public listing, read on 23 October 2026. The table has no prices; plans change, and the linked pages carry them.

What merchants say in 1 and 2 star reviews
CusRev's WordPress.org listing showed 1,538 ratings on 23 October 2026, 46 of them at 1 or 2 stars: about 1 in 33. Most of the sharp ones date to a 2022-2023 consent-flow change; the recurring structural one is template behaviour. Three topics:
“Overrides native WooCommerce templates without asking”
“95% Less Reviews since last Update from Cus Rev”
That wave followed a consent checkbox added to review reminders in 2022; several merchants reported collection falling off a cliff. The setting has options now, and the storm is old, which is why we date it rather than wave it around.
“Pro Version not working with my Woocommerce site”
These are single merchants' accounts, and we could not check them. The full reviews, and CusRev's replies, are on the linked pages.
When to stay with CusRev
- You want reviews in your own database. CusRev stores reviews as WordPress comments on your server; no shutdown or subscription change can take them away. After Judge.me's WooCommerce exit, that argument carries real weight.
- Free covers nearly everything. Unlimited invitations, media reviews, coupons and the Google feed on Basic is a better free deal than most SaaS review tools offer.
- You want no third party at all. CusRev's data flow stays largely inside your WordPress.
For a single WooCommerce store with no need for AI features or other platforms, staying with CusRev is a defensible call, and we say so.
Where Formgong fits, and what it does not do
- You want more than Woo. The same Formgong reviews follow you to a landing page, a second site, or a future platform; the widget is two lines of HTML anywhere.
- A customer can also record a voice review, up to two minutes: the speech is transcribed on the server (Whisper on Cloudflare Workers AI, the spoken language detected automatically), the transcript becomes the review text when the customer wrote none, and a recorded review always waits for your approval. None of the apps on this page offer that.
- AI summaries, automatic translation, mood tags and AI moderation on the paid plan; CusRev has none of these.
- A hosted review page: customers rate on a page we host, with no account, which also works when the reviewer never visits your site.
- One account for the shop's plumbing. With our WordPress plugin, a WooCommerce store emails each buyer after a completed order: one form for every product in the order, reviews sent from it marked Verified buyer, and one reminder for the products still without a review. A refund or cancellation stops a waiting email. The same account runs your contact forms and an AI help chat.
The widget filters by star rating and sorts by date or rating, and the same script shows stars under products in your lists and a small rating badge on any page.
What Formgong does not do: reviews live in Formgong, not your database (export to CSV any time); there are no review coupons; and our Google product reviews feed ships on Shopify, not WooCommerce, so far.
Until 31 December 2026: an account that connects reviews gets every paid reviews feature free for 6 months: the AI summary, mood tags, translation, AI moderation and no Formgong link under the widget. Your reviews and settings stay when the 6 months end.
How to move your reviews from CusRev
Export from CusRev
- In WordPress admin, open Reviews → Import/Export, switch to the Export tab and click Export. The CSV carries reviewer name, email, rating, text, product and date.
- CusRev reviews are also plain WooCommerce comments, so WordPress's own Tools → Export carries them too; the CSV is the easier shape for an import.
Then import it into Formgong
- Create a free Formgong account, open Reviews and add your site.
- On the site's page, click Import reviews. Choose the CSV, pick the language the reviews are written in, and click Import. Formgong recognises a CusRev file by its rating and author columns. Importing is on the free plan, with no limit on the number of reviews.
- Read the result. It counts the reviews that came in, the ones already imported before, and the rows skipped for a missing rating or an unreadable date. If the file marks a review as spam, rejected or hidden, it arrives hidden.
- Nothing is public yet. Click Publish N imported reviews, approve them one by one, or click Undo this import. On the free plan, reviews you have not published are deleted after 30 days, so decide within a month.
- Put the widget on your pages (code below). Then switch the old app off, so it stops sending review emails and the page does not show two widgets.
What comes across: the star rating, the title and text, the reviewer's name, the original date, the product and your public reply. What does not: reviewer emails, photos and videos, verified badges, helpful votes and custom questions. One file can hold 5,000 rows and 5 MB, so split a bigger export. You can run 20 imports a day, and importing the same file twice adds nothing.
A CusRev file goes through our generic CSV path: columns named like rating, author, date and product map automatically. We have not run a live CusRev export through it ourselves; if yours imports oddly, send it to support@formgong.com and we will fix the mapping.
Our Shopify app has been in Shopify's App Store review since 14 October 2026 and was still not listed on 20 October. Until it is, the widget goes into a Custom Liquid section, where {{ product.handle }} matches the product handle in your file. Off Shopify, paste the same two lines and set data-product yourself. You can export your Formgong reviews to CSV at any time, too.
<!-- Shopify: a Custom Liquid section on the product template -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="{{ product.handle }}"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>
<!-- Any other site: set data-product to the product handle from your export -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="blue-teapot"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>One account for the rest of the site
The same free account covers the rest of a small shop's site. A contact form that emails you every message, an AI help chat that answers visitors from your own pages, and free website templates with the form already connected. Reviews, forms and the chat live in one dashboard, so there is one login and one support address.
Tell us what we got wrong
If you moved from CusRev to Formgong, or tried and went back, we want to know what broke. If a fact on this page is out of date, or the import skipped rows it should have kept, write to support@formgong.com. We read every message and correct this page when we are wrong.
Questions
Is CusRev good for WooCommerce reviews?
Yes, honestly: the Basic plugin is free forever with unlimited review invitations, picture and video reviews, coupons and a Google Shopping feed, and reviews stay in your own WordPress database. The reasons to pick an alternative are specific: voice reviews, AI summaries and translation, multi-site use, or a hosted review page.
What does CusRev Pro add over the free version?
Branding and customization: a custom From address and footer, your logo on emails and forms, a visual email editor, custom review-form questions, trust-badge designs and removing ads from the CusRev.com page. One licence key covers one domain.
How do I export reviews from CusRev?
Reviews → Import/Export in WordPress admin, Export tab, Export. The CSV includes name, email, rating, text, product and date; the reviews are also ordinary WooCommerce comments in your database.
Can Formgong import CusRev reviews?
Yes, through the generic CSV import: columns like rating, author, date and product map automatically, free, up to 5,000 rows per file. Photos and videos do not come across.
