Stamped alternative: what you gain and what you give up

Stamped holds 4.7 stars from 3,752 Shopify App Store reviews, and its pricing page now says plainly that it is built for Shopify and Shopify Plus merchants, with Reviews sold as its own subscription. This page is for the stores that outgrew that pricing, run elsewhere, or hit the complaints below.

Short answer: Stamped is a capable Shopify reviews product whose pricing moved upmarket: Reviews is its own subscription, with self-serve plans for smaller brands only through its Shopify App listing. Formgong Reviews is free with no review limit, works on any site with one script tag, takes photo, video and voice reviews, and imports a Stamped CSV export directly, its columns are recognised automatically.

Stamped and Formgong side by side

Each Stamped cell comes from Stamped's own pages or its public listing, read on 23 October 2026. The table has no prices; plans change, and the linked pages carry them.

Stamped from its own pages and listings, Formgong from our code; both checked around 23.10.2026 (dates per fact in the research notes).

What merchants say in 1 and 2 star reviews

Stamped's listing showed 3,752 reviews on 23 October 2026, 152 of them at 1 or 2 stars: about 1 in 25. We read the newest pages; billing and support waits dominate. Three of them:

“because my billing was outside Shopify, uninstalling the app did not cancel the plan”

Stamped replied, apologised and issued a refund; the point stands that billing taken outside Shopify keeps running until cancelled separately.

“cannot get any help from customer support to export all my reviews”

“the review rating widgets have been loading extremely slowly”

These are single merchants' accounts, and we could not check them. The full reviews, and Stamped's replies, are on the linked pages.

When to stay with Stamped

  • You use more of Stamped than reviews. Its Repeat and Loyalty products share the account, and the bundle is the product's point.
  • You rely on its integrations. Klaviyo, Attentive, Gorgias and the Shop app are first-class there; Formgong has none of those connectors.
  • You want in-email review collection. Stamped's Reviews plan collects reviews inside the email itself; our order emails link to a review page instead.
  • AI sentiment analysis across feedback is part of its Reviews product.

A working Stamped setup on a plan you are happy with is no reason to move.

Where Formgong fits, and what it does not do

  • Your store is not on Shopify. Stamped's own pricing page scopes it to Shopify; Formgong runs anywhere you can paste one div and one script tag, with a WordPress plugin for WooCommerce.
  • You want reviews without a subscription at all. The free plan has no review limit, photo and video included.
  • You sell on WooCommerce and want review emails. With our WordPress plugin, a WooCommerce store emails each buyer after a completed order: one form for every product in the order, reviews sent from it marked Verified buyer, and one reminder for the products still without a review. A refund or cancellation stops a waiting email.
  • A customer can also record a voice review, up to two minutes: the speech is transcribed on the server (Whisper on Cloudflare Workers AI, the spoken language detected automatically), the transcript becomes the review text when the customer wrote none, and a recorded review always waits for your approval. None of the apps on this page offer that.

The widget filters by star rating and sorts by date or rating, and the same script shows stars under products in your lists and a small rating badge on any page.

What Formgong does not do: no Klaviyo, Attentive or Gorgias connectors, no in-email review forms, no loyalty product, and on Shopify no order emails or verified label yet. The AI summary, translation, mood tags and AI moderation are on the paid plan.

Until 31 December 2026: an account that connects reviews gets every paid reviews feature free for 6 months: the AI summary, mood tags, translation, AI moderation and no Formgong link under the widget. Your reviews and settings stay when the 6 months end.

How to move your reviews from Stamped

Export from Stamped

  1. In the Stamped dashboard, open the Reviews section and the tab you want, apply a filter or keyword search, and click the download button that appears. Stamped's help centre notes that any export over 50 reviews is sent to the account's email address instead.
  2. For a complete export of everything on file, Stamped's help centre says to write to its support. Ask for product IDs in the file while you are at it; without them, reviews cannot be matched to products.

Then import it into Formgong

  1. Create a free Formgong account, open Reviews and add your site.
  2. On the site's page, click Import reviews. Choose the CSV, pick the language the reviews are written in, and click Import. Formgong recognises a Stamped file by its author and rating columns. Importing is on the free plan, with no limit on the number of reviews.
  3. Read the result. It counts the reviews that came in, the ones already imported before, and the rows skipped for a missing rating or an unreadable date. If the file marks a review as spam, rejected or hidden, it arrives hidden.
  4. Nothing is public yet. Click Publish N imported reviews, approve them one by one, or click Undo this import. On the free plan, reviews you have not published are deleted after 30 days, so decide within a month.
  5. Put the widget on your pages (code below). Then switch the old app off, so it stops sending review emails and the page does not show two widgets.

What comes across: the star rating, the title and text, the reviewer's name, the original date, the product and your public reply. What does not: reviewer emails, photos and videos, verified badges, helpful votes and custom questions. One file can hold 5,000 rows and 5 MB, so split a bigger export. You can run 20 imports a day, and importing the same file twice adds nothing.

Our importer recognises Stamped's column names automatically (they are in its header map). We have not run a live Stamped account's file through it ourselves; if yours imports oddly, send it to support@formgong.com and we will fix the mapping.

Our Shopify app has been in Shopify's App Store review since 14 October 2026 and was still not listed on 20 October. Until it is, the widget goes into a Custom Liquid section, where {{ product.handle }} matches the product handle in your file. Off Shopify, paste the same two lines and set data-product yourself. You can export your Formgong reviews to CSV at any time, too.

HTML
<!-- Shopify: a Custom Liquid section on the product template -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="{{ product.handle }}"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>

<!-- Any other site: set data-product to the product handle from your export -->
<div data-formgong-reviews="fk_your_access_key" data-product="blue-teapot"></div>
<script src="https://formgong.com/reviews.js" defer></script>

One account for the rest of the site

The same free account covers the rest of a small shop's site. A contact form that emails you every message, an AI help chat that answers visitors from your own pages, and free website templates with the form already connected. Reviews, forms and the chat live in one dashboard, so there is one login and one support address.

Tell us what we got wrong

If you moved from Stamped to Formgong, or tried and went back, we want to know what broke. If a fact on this page is out of date, or the import skipped rows it should have kept, write to support@formgong.com. We read every message and correct this page when we are wrong.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to Stamped?

Formgong Reviews is free with no limit on reviews: widget, moderation, photo, video and voice reviews, import and CSV export included. Stamped's pricing page sells Reviews as its own subscription, with self-serve plans for smaller brands through its Shopify App listing.

How do I export all my reviews from Stamped?

Dashboard exports work on filtered results, and anything over 50 reviews arrives by email. For a full export of everything on file, Stamped's help centre says to contact its support; ask them to include product IDs.

Does Stamped work outside Shopify?

Its pricing page says Stamped is built for Shopify and Shopify Plus merchants. If your store is on WooCommerce, Wix, or plain HTML, you need a tool that runs there; Formgong's widget is two lines of HTML on any site.

Can Formgong import Stamped reviews?

Yes. The importer recognises Stamped's CSV columns automatically, free, up to 5,000 rows per file. Ratings, text, names, dates, products and your replies come across; photos, videos and verified badges do not.
