Getform alternative: 4 form backends compared

Getform was renamed to Forminit in January 2026; the old getform.io endpoints still answer, and the product continues under the new name. People search for a Getform alternative for the free plan (one form, 100 submissions a month), because forms pause at the monthly limit, or simply because the rename broke their bookmarks and docs links. We build Formgong, so it is listed first; the others come from their own public pages.

Short answer: Getform is now Forminit, and the service itself is alive: one form and 100 submissions a month on Free, with forms pausing at the limit. If that free plan is the problem, Formgong takes 1,000 submissions a month with unlimited forms, Telegram and EU storage on Free. Web3Forms takes 250 with one key. Formspree brings the biggest plugin catalogue. Stay with Forminit for its SDKs and EU hosting on AWS if the limits fit you.

Why people look for a Getform alternative

  • The rename itself. Since 14 January 2026, getform.io redirects to forminit.com and old docs links open the docs home page. Working forms did not break, but every saved link did; our Getform errors guide walks through what the old endpoints answer now.
  • One form on Free. The free plan has a single form and 100 submissions a month, with 100MB of file storage.
  • A pause at the limit. Over the quota, forms pause and reject new submissions, and those submissions are not stored, so they cannot be recovered later.
  • No Telegram. Forminit lists Slack, Discord, Sheets, Zapier and webhooks, but no Telegram delivery.

Where Forminit is the better choice

  • SDKs and a developer surface. Forminit ships its own SDK (npm install forminit) and form analytics.
  • EU hosting on AWS in Ireland, with a DPA, which matters for the same GDPR reasons people pick us.
  • Retention controls. Pro and higher can auto-delete submissions per form after 30, 90, 365 days or a custom period.

The head-to-head with Formgong alone is on Formgong vs Getform.

Switching a Getform form to Formgong

  1. Create a free Formgong account and copy the form's access key.
  2. Change the form's action to https://formgong.com/submit and put the key in a hidden access_key field. Field names stay as they are.
  3. Send a test from the live site, then connect Telegram or more email recipients in the dashboard.

The HTML docs list every hidden field Formgong understands, including _redirect for a thank-you page and the botcheck honeypot.

1. Formgong

Best for: Static and AI-built sites that want leads in Telegram and email, EU storage and 12 interface languages.

  • Free plan: 1,000 submissions a month, unlimited forms, CSV export.
  • Telegram: Every plan, including Free; several chats per form.
  • Data location: Submissions stored in Cloudflare D1 with EU jurisdiction.

Watch out: A young service with few native integrations: webhooks, email, Telegram and Google Sheets. Files are limited to 5 MiB each.

2. Web3Forms

Best for: A generous free quota with one access key and no account dashboard work.

  • Free plan: 250 submissions a month, unlimited forms, 1 recipient.
  • Telegram: Starter, Pro and Agency, not Free.
  • Data location: Infrastructure on AWS, Cloudflare and Hetzner; data may be processed in several regions.

Watch out: Stops accepting submissions at the monthly limit. Telegram and other integrations need a paid plan.

Questions

Is Getform shut down?

No. Getform was renamed to Forminit on 14 January 2026. Old getform.io/f/ endpoints still accept submissions, and the dashboard and docs moved to forminit.com. The product continues under the new name.

What is the best free Getform alternative?

Formgong's free plan takes 1,000 submissions a month with unlimited forms, email, Telegram and EU storage, against Forminit's one form and 100 submissions. Web3Forms takes 250 a month if you only need email.

What happens when a Getform form hits its limit?

Forminit's docs say forms pause and reject new submissions over the monthly limit, and those submissions are not stored. Pick a backend that holds over-limit submissions if losing them is unacceptable.

When should I stay with Forminit?

When its free limits fit you, or when you want its SDKs, form analytics, per-form retention periods and EU hosting on AWS. The rename alone is no reason to leave a working form.
