Comparison

Judge.me vs Yotpo

Formgong team ·

The two biggest names in product reviews, pointed at different buyers. Judge.me is the volume favourite: a generous free plan and 48,768 Shopify App Store reviews at 5.0, now Shopify-only after sunsetting its other platforms. Yotpo is the platform play: reviews plus loyalty and subscriptions, sold up-market across many commerce systems. We build Formgong Reviews, the third column, declared as ours.

Short answer: For a Shopify store choosing on value, Judge.me usually wins: unlimited reviews, photos and videos on its free plan against Yotpo's 50-orders-a-month free tier with media on paid plans. Yotpo wins where the platform matters: multi-system support (it stayed on WooCommerce and BigCommerce after Judge.me left), loyalty and the enterprise feature set. Both verified labels and review emails work out of the box on their home platforms.

Where Judge.me is stronger

  • Free plan value. Unlimited reviews with photos and videos, unlimited review requests, and syncs (Shop app, Etsy, Amazon) on Free.
  • The track record. On the App Store since 2015, 5.0 from 48,768 reviews, and 1-2★ complaints under 1 in 250.
  • Human support on Free. Yotpo's free tier gets a chatbot, per its own plan pages.

Where Yotpo is stronger

  • Platforms. Yotpo stayed on WooCommerce, BigCommerce and the enterprise systems after Judge.me's sunset; off Shopify it is often the incumbent choice.
  • The platform bundle. Loyalty, subscriptions and SMS live in the same vendor, which consolidates contracts for larger brands.
  • Enterprise fit. Salesforce Commerce Cloud support and the sales-led tiers exist for a reason.

Who should pick which

  • A Shopify store choosing on value: Judge.me.
  • WooCommerce or BigCommerce today: Yotpo, or a WooCommerce-native plugin; Judge.me is no longer an option there.
  • You want loyalty and reviews from one vendor: Yotpo.
  • A small store that mostly wants honest reviews shown fast: Judge.me's free plan, or the third option below.

A third option

Formgong Reviews is ours, and its lane is different from both: reviews on any site you can paste HTML into, free with no review limit, photo, video and voice reviews (transcribed server-side, held for approval), imports from Judge.me, Yotpo and Loox exports, and AI summaries with automatic translation on the paid plan. It has no loyalty product and is not on the App Store yet, which the head-to-heads state plainly: Judge.me alternative and Yotpo alternative.

Questions

Is Judge.me or Yotpo better for Shopify?

On free-plan value, Judge.me: unlimited reviews with photos and videos against Yotpo's 50-orders tier with media on paid plans. Yotpo competes on the platform bundle, loyalty, subscriptions, enterprise integrations, rather than on the free tier.

Does Judge.me still work on WooCommerce?

No. Judge.me sunset WooCommerce on 31 October 2025 (data accessible until 19 November 2025) and closed its other non-Shopify platforms by January 2026. On WooCommerce, compare Yotpo, WooCommerce-native plugins like CusRev, or Formgong's WordPress plugin.

Which is cheaper, Judge.me or Yotpo?

Plans change, so check both pricing pages; structurally, Judge.me's free plan covers what many small stores need, while Yotpo's free tier caps at 50 orders a month and moves media reviews and rich snippets to paid plans, per its own pages.

Can I move reviews between them?

Both export to CSV, and most review tools import the other's file. Formgong imports Judge.me and Yotpo exports directly, free; ratings, text, names, dates and products come across, media and verified badges do not.
