Verified buyer, edits and reviewer names

Last updated

Labels on a review tell shoppers where it came from. Reviewers can fix or remove their own review, and you choose how much of their name shows.

Labels on a review

  • Verified buyer: the review came through the review page linked from a review email after an order. Imported reviews keep the label only when the file has a verified column that says yes.
  • Email confirmed: the reviewer opened the edit link Formgong emailed them. Link scanners in mail apps do not count. A review never shows both labels; Verified buyer wins.
  • Received a store coupon for reviewing: the review came from an order while the store offered review coupons.

Reviewers can edit or delete their own review

A reviewer who left an email address gets an email right away with an Edit or delete my review button. The link works for one year, for up to 10 saves a day. They can change the stars, the text and the name, and add or remove photos. After an edit the review is checked again, the same way as a new one in your mode. A review you hid stays waiting for you. The public widget marks it “Edited”, and you see the text from before the edit. Deleting is permanent and removes the files too. Imported reviews have no edit link. You still cannot change a reviewer's words yourself.

How names are shown

Show reviewers' names as (Widget tab, step Publishing) has three options: Full name, First name and last initial (Emma C.), or First name only (Emma). New sites start with the initial. Titles such as “Dr.” are dropped, and an empty name shows as “Anonymous”. Your dashboard and the CSV export keep the full name.
