How forms work in Google Sites

Google Sites has no native styleable contact form. Insert → Forms only embeds a Google Form. Paste HTML via Insert → Embed → Embed code to match your site.

Embeds run in a sandboxed iframe. Keep markup and optional CSS inside the snippet. A redirect may only navigate the iframe, so prefer an in-frame thank-you message. See Google Sites embed help.

Set it up in Google Sites

  1. Create a Formgong form and copy the access key.
  2. In Google Sites, open Insert → Embed → Embed code and paste a self-contained HTML form that posts to Formgong (include _lang, access_key and botcheck).
  3. Click Next, Insert, then resize the embed. It does not auto-grow with content.
  4. Publish and test on the live URL (editor preview can differ). Connect Telegram in Formgong if you want phone alerts.

Formgong or Google Forms?

Keep Google Forms when a Sheets response grid and Google’s UI are enough.

Use Formgong when you want an on-brand HTML form, Telegram delivery and an inbox outside Google.

Questions and answers

Can Google Sites run JavaScript in the embed?

Yes, inside the embed iframe. Keep scripts and styles inside the snippet; they cannot style the rest of the Google Site.

Why does the thank-you redirect look wrong?

Redirects often affect only the iframe. Prefer an inline success message in the embed, or open the thank-you URL with target=_blank if you accept that behaviour.

Do I need Apps Script?

No. The embed posts straight to Formgong. Apps Script is a different path for Google-native workflows.
