How forms work in Shopify
Shopify’s default contact form emails the store owner through Shopify. That is enough until you want Telegram, a shared inbox, or extra fields.
A Custom Liquid section can post straight to Formgong. Keep the form as progressive HTML when you can. Deeper “where do submissions go” detail is on the blog.
Set it up in Shopify
- Create a Formgong form and copy the access key.
- In the theme editor, add a Custom Liquid section. Paste an HTML form that posts to Formgong with
access_key,_langandbotcheck. - Use ordinary field names (
name,email,message, optional order number). Avoid putting secrets in Liquid. - Save, preview on the contact page, send a test order-style message, then connect Telegram in Formgong.

Formgong or Shopify’s form?
Keep Shopify’s native contact form for simple store emails inside Shopify admin.
Use Formgong when support should land in Telegram or a shared inbox with statuses, or when you need EU storage notes for your privacy policy.
Questions and answers
Will this break checkout?
No. The form only posts to Formgong. It does not replace checkout or customer accounts.
Can I use an app instead?
Yes. Contact-form apps in the Shopify App Store are valid. Formgong is the DIY HTML path without another app subscription.
